POWER OF MIND: Secret to Success

We guess that all those among you who are at least mildly interested in achieving success through the “alternative” psychology realize what power lies in our subconscious. You have probably read the famous book “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” written by Joseph Murphy. We could not quote it, nor give a detailed profile of it, but I could definitely give you, its essence.

The conscious part of our being is just the tip of an iceberg probing out of the water, but the larger part of it, the one lying underneath the surface, is our subconscious. It influences our behaviour, our character and creativity, and holds an immense power. Unfortunately, it often lies unused because people are mostly unaware of it. We use just a small proportion of the true potential of our mind. Those who managed to use a larger portion of their minds than the rest of us, and to use potentials of their subconsciousness were those who created the genial master-pieces of science and art. They know the secrets of success and utilize them intensively.

A lot has been written on the subconscious mind, and various explanations have been given. But the fact remains that it will take some time until we thoroughly explore it. Anyway, there is something lying in the back of our consciousness that affects all the incredible things happening to us. You can call that “something” subconsciousness, inner being, mind, non-physical being, God or whatever you like. But it is the one responsible for all the coincidences, and all the creative and paranormal things that happen to us. We should be convinced that coincidences are not coincidental.

You are all familiar with some of those things, like, for example, anticipation of the events. Let’s take this example, a situation when you have, for some reason, take the other route on your way back home. Later on, you hear the news informing you of a car crash on your usual route, and that the traffic is being held for an hour or so. And what about those moments when you think of someone, and he phones you the next minute?

In order to understand these manifestations of our subconsciousness, it is important to realize that we live in two parallel worlds. The first is the outer world. It is the world of events and situations. The other is our inner world, the world of thoughts, feelings, beliefs, reactions. Those two worlds differ from each other, and both functions according to their own laws. We are usually so preoccupied by this outer world, that we consider our inner world to be only the reaction on the events of the first one. When something happens, we create a virtual reality in our inner world by living it out, we imagine how things are going to happen in the future, we create various scenarios, we worry, have fears… In a nutshell, we live in a reaction.

One of the obvious examples of the power that our mind holds is the placebo effect. In case there are some who are not familiar with this term, placebo is when you give a patient a medical treatment that has nothing to do with curing his illness. Even so, you let him believe that he’s been given an appropriate treatment. The patients were given various colourful pills that had no physiological effect at all, but those who took the pills, thinking that they were effective, started feeling better. There were also some experiments that included a whole surgical team pretending to perform a surgery on a conscious patient. The reports showed that those patients recovered from their illnesses just as if they had really been operated on. All the patients who were used in the experiments on the placebo effect succeeded in getting well, or at least better, by the sheer power of their minds. This brings us to the conclusion that they had probably got ill by the power of their minds.
